A design is pointless if it can’t be built. To maintain a sharp edge of understanding of technical capabilities and limits, we regularly engage in development projects. Innovation is good if it addresses a real world need. The development work we do is often oriented towards filling in a gap that we can see from our perspective as user experience designers.

Our development activity is primarily focused on projects using the 'Drupal' open source content management platform. We have designed and built numerous Drupal projects, often collaboratively with other web development companies and development teams.

These projects include the Ottawa Public Library (home site), Bestfit.ca, POVMagazine.com, and custom projects for Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC). Most recently we have teamed with Be Circle to produce an automated web site creation system that provides a highly usable front-end to a complex, legacy back-end server.

We have built custom components with an emphasis on improved Information Architecture deployment techniques. We are in the process of building a Drupal module (in alpha) called 'IA Space' which provides very effective capabilities for organizing and managing content in ways that are more consistent with IA principles. Our longer term goal is to make this module available to the larger Drupal open source community.
